It’s PopSugar Must Have time again!
My subscription box obsession continues with the PopSugar Must Have box! Each month you’ll receive an assortment of full-size “must have” products picked by some of the glammest ladies out there. You can even use the code REFER5 for $5 off your first delivery.
Kooringal - Giselle Mid Brim Hat ($27.99)
The Hype: This 100% polyester, wide-brimmed hat features a UPF rating of 50+. A great hat for traveling, it packs well and the brim features a wire inside to allow for easy reshaping.
My Take: Cuuuuuuuute! I always say I should get a hat for the beach, but never really get around to it. This is adorable, and has a tie so you don’t lose it on a windy day. Mine was in grey, but they also have black and a cobalt blue color. A great item to throw in my beach bag because it doesn’t get crunched up and wrinkled.
The Modern Margarita Variety Pack ($8.99)
The Hype: Our pre-measured cocktail mixers bring a new twist to traditional margaritas with a variety of cutting-edge fruit flavors including watermelon, blood orange, mango, strawberry, and even an authentic lime for the purists.
My Take: Yum! This is starting to look like summer in a box! These little mixers each make one drink when mixed with tequila and crushed ice. While I’m a little fussy about my crushed ice (hey, we all have our *things* right?) I’ll be breaking out the blender to enjoy these! My favorite? The watermelon, definitely. It even includes packets of rimming crystals.
Questions I Ask When I Want to Talk About Myself by Mindy Kaling ($13.45)
The Hype: A deck of 50 conversation-starting cards to share with friends.
My Take: I loved the idea of this, but I’m really not too excited about the implementation. There’s a text blurb on each card leading up to the discussion question - but the blurbs aren’t really fun things. They read more like excerpts from an after-school special. Some of them are cute, but overall not something I’ll be whipping out at parties. Her book is good though, so maybe check that out instead.
Beautyblender Travel Kit ($23.99)
The Hype: Beautyblender is the first ergonomically designed non-disposable sponge applicator that allows you to flawlessly apply your makeup.
My Take: I squealed when I saw this. I’ve been pining away for one of these since I first saw them - but was in no way, shape or form going to tell my husband I paid that much money for essentially a piece of foam. This also came with a small bottle of the cleanser, which is supposed to be the best thing to clean it. When properly maintained, their “lifespan” can be around 4 months. Anyway, I am in LOVE. My liquid makeup goes on like butter, it blends perfectly and it’s not streaky or weird at all. I thought I was pretty pro at makeup application (you know, since I’m all old and whatnot) but this thing is just great.
Color Quench Lip Tint from Pacifica ($7)
The Hype: Essential fatty acids from rich and amazing avocado and coconut oils leave lips luscious and healthy. 100% vegan and gluten free.
My Take: I received “sugared fig” which looks like one of their darker colors, but it’s really not. It goes on easily, just like a chapstick, and the color is not overwhelming so you can do it easily on the run without a mirror. It gave my lips just a boost of color without looking lipstick-y - which is great for casual days where I need to go out but don’t want to do the full makeup gig. It smells amazing, like fruity berries, and made my lips soft and smooth - not sticky or goopy at all.
Way Better Snacks - Simply Sweeet Potato Tortilla Chips ($2.99)
The Hype: These gluten-free non GMO tortilla chips are made with sprouted ingredients for better nutrition and digestibility.
My Take: YUM. I love these. I never in a million years would have tried them on my own, but I think I may be hooked now. They don’t have an overwhelming taste of sweet potato (I guess that could be a plus or minus, depending on your preference) but they’re just salty crispy squares of goodness that have landed on my next shopping list.
I also received a cute little (emphasis: little) PopSugar tote bag, and a $30 coupon card to an online jewelry store called Charm & Chain. I looked at their stuff for about two minutes and realized I won’t be using the coupon on a pair of $250 earrings.
