June PopSugar Must Have Box Review
It’s time! It’s time! It’s that time again! My beautiful pink and white box arrived on the steps, and here I am — ready to spill the beans about the contents. I have to say, I wasn’t totally blown away this month, which kind of bums me out. However, there are still some gems in there. Don’t forget, you too can sign up for the PopSugar Must Have Box!
The Hype: The Gorjana & Griffin Zuma Scarf is a lightweight and stylish addition to any wardrobe. Featuring semi-sheer fabric with a pop of bright color blocking, it effortlessly transitions through the spring and summer seasons.
My Take: Gorgeous, gorgeous and gorgeous! The picture doesn’t do it justice, this “scarf” is actually 40″x70″. You could do a million things with it, and it’s the perfect colors for summer. The feel of the fabric is luxurious. I think this is my favorite thing this month! (I also received a gift/coupon card for G&G)
Juice Beauty Stem Cell Repair Moisturizer
The Hype: An ultimate moisturizer with a proprietary blend of fruit stem cells infused into a Vitamin C and an organic resveratrol grapeseed rich formula to repair damage and aggressively firm and decrease wrinkles. Certified organic, antioxidant-rich ingredients and plant oils hydrate and improve elasticity for lasting, advanced age defy results.
My Take: Ok, before I even get into the effectiveness of this cream I have to take a minute and laugh at myself — when I saw the package I was like “WHAT?? STEM CELL HUH?!” and then I realized they literally meant stems of plans. Derp, Nicole, derp. You can laugh too, it’s okay. Anyway - there are two astounding features of this cream - one, the dispenser is amazing. I wish all creams would take note. It’s actually a little push button on the top of the jar when you unscrew the lid, and when you press it the cream comes up out of a tiny little hole like magic. It’s SO much better than jamming your finger into a jar over and over again. Although, I can’t speak to how well it will work when it gets down to the bottom. The other, is that it smells like you just fell into a lemon. If you like lemons, you will LOVE the scent of this cream. Now, as for the effectiveness - I didn’t feel that it had a ton of staying power, but maybe it will be fine for someone with normal skin.
Hard Candy Fitness - Addicted to Sweat 4
The Hype: A chair and the floor are the only tools required for this extreme and unique workout aimed to sculpt, tone and tighten the entire body. The chair will enhance all of the exercises for the butt, hips and thighs, and the floor will work the abs and core. The reps and intensity are both increased for ultimate results.
My Take: I was not happy to see this in my box. I understand that being fit and active is sexy, and glam - but if I wanted to receive a fitness video in my subscription box, I would subscribe to any number of the fitness boxes out there. Apparently Madonna uses this. Good for her.
Revenge Wears Prada - The Devil Returns by Lauren Weisberger
The Hype: The sequel you’ve been waiting for: the follow-up to the sensational #1 bestseller The Devil Wears Prada.
My Take: Oh Lauren, I’m so sad right now. I was so excited to see this book in my box (I mean, hello, surprise! Yay!) I settled myself into a corner and didn’t come up for air until it was done. I was not impressed. Unlike her previous novels, I found the direction in this a little hazy. I don’t want to give away actual storyline spoilers - but it lacked focus, in my opinion. Her voice wasn’t there, either. I’m just.. ugh. I don’t like saying that about someone who has written books in the past that I have truly loved.
Popcorn, Indiana Fit Popcorn
The Hype: All the taste and crunch you crave, nothing artificial and…here’s the best part… only 40 calories or less per cup. All the taste without the guilt trip.
My Take: YUM. This stuff is totally poppable. The only reason I had to give it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the flavor was there but it wasn’t THERE. I would have liked to have tasted a bit more seasoning, instead of a vague semblance of parmesan and herb (which is the flavor I received, your results may vary.) Honestly though, how bad is popcorn EVER? Unless you burn it in the office microwave - then don’t talk to me.
Project 7 Quench the Thirsty Mints
The Hype: Our delicious wintergreen sugar-free mints come in a handy recycled plastic test tube container and are made right here in the United States. Each tray contains 12 tubes of mints. Each container holds 50 bad breath zapping mints. Each tray of “Quench the Thirsty” mints provides water for a person in need for one year.
My Take: These little suckers are nommin’! Yummy fresh zippy wintergreen happiness in my mouth. They support a fantastic cause (actually, Project 7 supports a LOT of fantastic causes, you should check them out even if you’re not into wintergreen) and they freshen the face hole. My only qualm, they’re so itty bitty!
Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream
The Hype: Juice Beauty Introduces the Next Generation of BB Cream: The Ultimate Color Correcting CC Cream, 12-in-1 Multitasker. Who Should Use It? Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream is ideal for all skin types and especially beneficial for skin showing the signs of aging including fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage.
My Take: Here we go again with the CC cream. CC, BB, you you, me me… I’m kind of tired of all the fanfare and fantastical advertising that goes into these creams. The color was mediocre, and I’m not sure how much complexion correction (say that a few times) I’m supposed to be raving about when the sample is about the size of my cats toenail. I love the naturalistics behind it, but I just don’t know what else to say.
