BarkBox Review barkbox-logo

This month we had the opportunity to check out BarkBox — a subscription box for dogs! (Yes, you heard me — DOGS. If you’re not a dog mommy you might want to skip this post!) BarkBox has 3 size options, for the smallest of pooches to the giant oafs like my Monty. It ranges in price from $29/mo. for one month, with discounts of 17% & 34% for 3 & 6 month subscriptions respectively. All of the options have free shipping. A fabulous side note about BarkBox is that they donate at least 10% of their profits to shelters, rescues and animal welfare organizations. Yay!

You can also connect with BarkBox on Twitter and Facebook.

July’s theme was “puppy picnic basket” in celebration of Independence Day and summer in general. Wonder what we got? Monty is writing the reviews this time, but my only opinion is that I wish we would have gotten a toy or two instead of all consumables. But, I’ll let you read his opinions on the rest…

BarkBox Review

Monty checks out his very own mail! (He was so excited he wouldn’t stay still, yay blurring!)

 BarkBox Review - Bowser Beer
Bowser Beer

The Hype: Bowser Beer is 100% made AND sourced in USA with USDA beef or chicken and malt barley (full of B-vitamins) – just like in your beer. It also includes Glucosamine for joint health. What’s NOT in Bowser Beer: Alcohol or carbonation. Hops, which can be toxic to dogs. Commercial broth, which contains loads of salt, fat, MSG, onions and meat of unknown origin.

Monty’s Take: After Mommy and Daddy stopped laughing (I don’t know why they think doggy beer is funny, I mean.. daddy drinks beers!) I was allowed to try this sprinkled on my dinner. It was SO yummy! I licked the bowl clean and hoped maybe I could have some more. Mommy said not tonight, but maybe with my breakfast. Yum!

BarkBox Review - Puptato Chips
Puptato Chips

The Hype: Puptato chips are dried and not fried, making them virtually fat free! Grown under the North Carolina sunshine, these sweet potatoes are a superb source of vitamins and minerals and are great for sensitive stomachs.

Monty’s Take: More treats for me? Awesome! These tasted just like the veggie chips the kids are always dropping on the floor, but they’re just for me! I don’t even have to eat them with carpet fuzz on them!

BarkBox Review - Whole Life Pet - Tail Mix Sirloin Burgers

Whole Life Pet - Tail Mix Sirloin Burgers

The Hype: Whole Life freeze dried grilled sirloin burgers are grain and gluten free. They are designed to be a daily snack for any size dog supplying high quality protein with no fillers or additives.

Monty’s Take: These smell just like the meat Mommy makes out on that giant fire box in the back yard, but nobody said “no, no, Monty!” when I gobbled one up.

BarkBox Review - Calm K9 Wafers

Dale Edgar’s Calm K9 Wafers

The Hype: These human grade supplements support proper nervous system function to help keep your dog calm and focused and  promote a greater overall sense of well-being.

Monty’s Take: I’m not a nervous guy, so Mommy wouldn’t let me have these until she talked to the vet. Mommy said it’s very important to know what kind of effect it could have on me, so it’s better to wait and see. I think Mommy is SO smart.

BarkBox Review - Butcher Block Bones

Butcher Block Bones

The Hype: Your dog will enjoy hours of chew time with this Butcher’s Block Bones Champ Shank Bone. Made with 100% natural  USDA Angus & Hereford Beef, the bone contains no additives or preservatives and is slow roasted for 24-36 hours.

Monty’s Take: Did I say Mommy is so smart? I meant she’s dumb. She’s dumb and a big fat meaniehead, because she won’t let me have this bone! She said it will make too much of a mess on the floor and on my white paws, so she said we have to save it to chew outside at Grandma’s house. I’m running away! I hate it here!
